The MARS 3D CD-ROM contains the very best Mars Exploration Rover images as 300 high resolution panoramic anaglyphs - 3D images viewed with RED/BLUE glasses (one pair free with each CD-ROM purchase). Spirit and Opportunity's first 229 Martian days, or Sols, (approximately 9 months Earth time) are fully documented in this unprecedented collection.
The 150 Spirit anaglyphs on this disc include images from Sol 3 through Sol 229 - from Spirit's landing near Bonneville Crater through its climb up the West Spur of the Columbia Hills, over two miles away. The 150 Opportunity anaglyphs on this disc include images from Sol 3 through Sol 219 - from Opportunity's landing in Eagle Crater through its journey and descent into Endurance Crater. From hill top to crater depths, these anaglyphs comprise the finest collection of stereo images of Mars available anywhere - "It's like taking a walk on Mars!"

The MARS 3D CD-ROMS are Injection Molded, not "burned", resulting in a superior product. The injection mold process is superior to "burning" as the signal of an injection molded disc is MUCH stronger than that of a CD-R, ensuring reliability in all readers. Furthermore, the data side of the disc is more resistant to damage ensuring a longer trouble-free life.
The injection mold process involves mounting molds into a high tech injection mold machine. Polycarbonate plastic is injected into the mold under high pressure. Once the disc molding is complete, a reflective coating is applied to the disc in a process called "metallization". Lastly the disc receives a special protective lacquer. The disc is spun at very high speed to evenly distribute the lacquer, which is then "baked" under ultraviolet light.
