sometimes gypsum, gets the "root-like" look. I'm glad brian sees the fibrous quality, holding the mass together. Insulater? hmm the soil seems to composed of small layers, or plates, as seen in the images, on the sides of the trenches. It would be nice to get one of these "plates", on to the OM, to get agood look.
