Ok, i count At least 4 hoops that ups had to jump through here.

Are forum posts down Mark?

I tried to post last night, in the geology section, and i have no idea what happened to the effort. Very fustrating.

Again, if my tag is in the name box, then you KNOW its me, then why do you need my adress, or Email?

I get strange emails now, do you sell them?

mann, I can look into each of these issues, but I need specifcs for each:

"Forum posts" are not down currently. Specifically, are you referring to posting a new topic, or a reply? Did you get an error message (if so, what did it say)?

The post in the geology section, was a new topic or a reply? In either case, what was the name of the topic? Did you try to post in unathenticated mode or in authenicated mode?

Regarding the email address question, I have already answered this question: the email address is needed only for the "post count" feature of this site. This feature works by counting the number of replies from a specific email address. Note that if you are posting in unauthenticated mode, you are free to use a fake email address for this purpose -- if you use a consistent fake email address, your posts will be counted correctly. TypeKey does email validation, however, so TypeKey requires a vaild email address. In your case, you don't seem to be using TypeKey, so I recommend using a fake email address. (And regarding the comment "you KNOW its me" -- remember that anybody can enter 'mann' in the name box -- so do I really know that its you? Wink Keep in my that the "remember personal info" feature stores you nickname on your computer, not on the web server)

What do you mean by strange emails? spam? If you are asking if I sell the email addresses, the answer is no. I will never sell or divulge email addresses to anyone.

In general I am confused why you are posting these comments in this thread. Based on your previous comments, and based on what I see from the stats, you have not using the authentication feature at all. So I am little confused how you can be jumping through hoops for a feature that you are not using. Please help me better understand...

If i want to post, I HAVE to submit my E-mail, as i am not "athenticated".

But as i have stated before, If your site enters my Tag, "mann" into the name box, all by itself, then You must Know, that it is MY IP, and your site Has Identified ME.

WHY must i also enter my E mail, or url?

After just typing this, i have reread part of your reply, "Keep in my that the "remember personal info" feature stores you nickname on your computer, not on the web server".

The net is a strange place for me, as i lack knowledge of how it works. Your site should be able to reconize me, as other sites do, with no hoops, such as Email, or url entering into boxs, Or "hoops" as i call it.

I tried to post a reply in geology, bounce thread, i entered my Email, and it said "Done", but no post showed up, i repeated, but same result. I thought when i awoke, there would be Two posts, as usual, but nothing.

I'll try again.

Thank you.

Name and Email adress REQUIRED, please correct the Error in the form below Then post.

This is a Sunday, and as is customary in the US we are required to give deference to the unavailability of real persons handling the workload on that day. It is a habit to ignore some amount of delays, and some lack of handling of business on one day per week. My problem and complaint is a s simple as manns. I exist as Dana Johnson, and as danajohnson0, as my actual name was used by another first on the Internet. I use either or both, but never significantly any other. Why, therefore is there any confusion, nor any complaint in the matter? If I were to complain that a person misrepresented their name and ID it would be a matter of understood security, but this noisy situation which casts dispersion upon all to eliminate a few who choose corrupt practices is just a tide-water of back-pedaling, and a practice of giving noisy predominance to a few who choose to use the entries for corrupt practices.
I have tried to sign-in to Type Key today, and was given not a chance to participate, but again, a delay of indefinite length in the process. In anger, I signed up as a same person, with a different 'user name' and found that Type Key accepts all parties with the same actual display name, but with different email addresses, and a differing 'member', or 'user-name'. This is not a matter of security nor identification. It is a test of the tenacity of those who would lie all day given the chance, and an offer of impersonation by name through registration which relies upon the 'weakest link' on the Internet, the Web Mail account. In addition, the 'member profile' page displays not only the security question, but the answer as well, in clear view. How can this bring security to us as individuals? Doesn't it sound odd to you that the security question is answered upon the login page without any request for it? There wasn't even a sequential repeat of the password as is common on popular 'free' service sites. We should reconsider the process, and discuss the long delays which occur in the log-ins, and in the registration responses. When asked for a 'member name' additionally, a person thinks of eith the 'display name', or a legal name, and it should be noted that the sum of the names and content on Type Ke can be as 'bogus' as a 'fish found on Mars'.
I tried to post today, and found my entry held for a day, while other persons were free to post to my topics with ease. The other persons have not complained publicly about identity 'forging', and have their comments posted immediately even on this day. Why, therefore, is there a delay of a day or more in my post to the same topic subject? This becomes very clear over a period of time as the circumstances build in number. Some of my posts have never appeared on the topics entered.
As this is a day considered 'non-working', I will wait for resolution to this again. Somehow your statements about 'security' and 'filters' is becoming a weak screen to view through. Please explain when the time is available. I believe you are burdened by the entire program and process, but the particulars are becoming a little obviously 'fishy' and appear directed to a 'list'.
Can this be the actual problem, not the security of the information transfer as we engage in that?
sincerely, Dana Johnson danajohnson0 -- and no other.

Dana Johnson

I should have added above that the warning upon posting was that the reply was held for moderator approval. I have no problem with that process. I simply cannot make sensible entries without them being sequential to the replies of others I am answering. It causes as much confusion as my typing errors.

mann and Dana,

I think you both like the new Trusted Posters feature, that hopefully will address your frustrations in this area.
