I think we just proved the existence of god.

If the universe is alive it would have a consience as well. That would be god. Gods job would be to give kindness and peace to the consciece of the universe. Without peace there can be no equilibrium.

Who would have thonk it.

Apparently God does not suffer with “time sickness” like we do.

On another Thread, they are discussing the exoplanet orbiting the red dwarf Gliese 581 which is about 20 light-years away. That means that all the info we have collected so far is already 20 years old.

The only way we can “visit” this exoplanet is in our imaginations. God, on the other hand, can visit there any “time” He chooses. Maybe His visits are by imagination also. You might call it “imagination in spades” in God’s case. To Him, to imagine it is to create it!

God's everywhere all the time, for it/he/she is the Counsciousness itself which lays within everything, from the little stone to the human being.

Its purpose ("its" suits better than any "his" or "her") is that of experiencing itself, which is accomplished more and more as we proceed from so-called "dead matter" to higher manifestations of life.

That is: mineral world > vegetable life > animal life > human being, which is the final step with its capability of being self-aware.
Someone adds a further cathegory, that of so-called Masters, such as Jesus, Buddha, Confucio and so on, for their Consciousness and understanding of God (= identification with God) is far superior than usual human beings. That's right, but I'd rather not to split the human being class since we speak about capabilities, and not achievements. Anyone is able to become a Jesus whenever is Consciousness "triggers". We usually call this "relevation" (you know, S. Francesco and the like).

Everyone knows that the physical manifestation of things is made up of the same basic matter particles ("quark" is how we call the smallest "brick" we've been able to "reach" so far), but Consciousness resides elsewhere, not in matter.

----

I'm sure about what I say, and that's why I don't usually recurr to the formula of "I think that". You can add such flavors for yourselves, if you are annoyed by people who seems to deal with such important topics as if they were talking about their vacations. Wink

Favonio,

Very good my friend. But in MHO human beings are not the end of the line.

Evolution is ongoing. The created are now the creator. The spirt of the universe wants to look further from Earth.

Oppy and Spirt are just the beginning of new life. Conected to us via signals across the cosmos. Just as the first eyes on Earth raised up and looked around.

Try to dispassionately observe, from time to time, the improbability of the long string of “successes” which have brought you to the point you now occupy. You got your Degree, you got your NOAA job, you got your computer, you got an interest in Mars, etc. How many “broken links” in this chain would have it required to deny your access to this “point” in your existence?

Simultaneously, others were designing the Rovers and the delivery systems, struggling through their own labyrinth of “successes”.

There is an underlying force in nature which encourages each individual’s mental growth. Or say it encourages mankind’s evolution, but on the individual’s level.

Just try to dispassionately observe this beneficial process working in your (and in other’s) daily life. Therein I think you have to eventually recognize your personal proof of the existence of God.

Don’t ignore the simple fact that we all have gathered here, on this Forum, each by our own unique string of “successes”. Try to dispassionately ask “Why?”.

In my humble opinion, as in the movie “Encounters of the Third Kind”, the answer is the same for all of us:

You were INVITED.

Your logic is compelling, but I don't see it as proof of anything, really. The world is an amazing place. If you could go back in time a million years, the world would look different, but it would be every bit as profound. Nature itself is an enigma. The simple answer is an outside source. I love your positive view on life, however, and that is enough for me. By looking at our "successes" it gives us not only a feeling of accomplishment, but also a feeling that we are part of some greater destiny. What you point out is that inherent in nature are such an incredible network of "successes" that it is hard to fathom they could occur without a reason. There is reason in nature, however, in the laws that govern what we know of our physical universe. To connect things because it makes us feel better to feel more a part of the whole is not altogether a bad thing. I am glad to have read your insights and to share our views here on the Internet. The Internet is a microcosm of this inteconnectedness of all things. That is truly amazing.

R.R:

I appreciate the analysis.

The dispassionate observations I suggest one make are very personal, and can last a lifetime. They probably should be viewed with a certain skepticism, so long as they are kept truly dispassionate.

I hope you will proceed with your own set of observations. They can be fun, and offer the side benefits you have already recognized.

I would be remiss if I didn’t introduce “coin tossing” into the discussion of measuring “successes”.

As one makes the dispassionate observations, it is always more meaningful if a tally can be kept. Try to watch for the associated probabilities by recognizing the binary choices which have been made, as they are being made. Watch for the simple things, like whether or not a particular book was available at the particular time when that book would make a difference. Or whether a particular bit of information just became available at a crucial time. Or whether a friend called at an important time. Or whether a particular burst of insight came at just the right time. [ Try to eschew arrogance, as it foils the dispassionate nature of the observations. ]

Each such occurrence is a “binary choice”: either it happened, or it didn’t. If it happened, at a crucial time which aided in your intellectual growth (or “personal evolution”), consider that a “heads” in a coin toss.

Then, from time to time, tally up the strings of “heads”, and compare it to the probability of a similar string of heads in a sequence of coin-tosses.

Most of us drift through life without watching the tallies.

Henry,

It has been a while. Keeping a tally would be hard to do in the fog of battle. Trying to help people to tie the little picture together without understanding the big picture is no small task. I am surly not the man for the job. I am like the big bang, sending out tremendous data in all directions. Sometime I frustrate myself with the volume and the ability of humans not to see any of it at all. I have the people skills of a tornado.

When I was on active duty we had a Lt who handled a crisis with the calm of an Admiral. The chief commented that he was surprised he acted so well under fire. The Captain said that the Lt. did not know there was a fire, so much for observation.

That being said our friend, Danajohnson, made a connection to the universe and the big picture. We will see if he can expand.
