Looks like Oppy is tired of Phoenix getting all the attention. From today’s batch.

The famous,” High thin wispy clouds.”

Will go back and see what else I can find if anyone has any stored this is the place.

Nice image Hort. I hate you are wound up. We all get that way for sure. Before Phoenix, this was the best cloud image. This was done by Winston. Looks like Low to mid level clouds definitely not high thin wispy clouds like above.

I love seeing clouds and dust devils the planet seems so alive like this. How different the cloud formations are here vs the pole. Why? I know there are temperature differences and atmospheric pressure must be coming into play as would the melting of the southern pole and the migration of the CO2 and H2O, why 2 jet streams compared to 3 on Earth. Mars just provokes why why why

I agree KPM. Mars is a strange place. Why? You get to ask yourself that ten million times. Mars is the most Earth like planet. Is it dead? Maybe. Was it once alive? Maybe.

I never ever thought of a planet as being alive or dead, but that would appear to be the case. Our sun will die as well. Millions or billions of years from now when our sun is a red giant and Earth takes Mercury’s place will Titan be the next Earth. Will life advance to the point were they build probes to investigate that lifeless rock next to the sun? Will they look at the surface and see any trace? Will we send life there on purpose when we know no hope is left? Will they ever figure it out?

Enough questions for now.

While looking for a picture of Endeavor rim from Victoria, I discovered this interesting picture:

The raw data are 64x64 thumbnails and I am really puzzled why full size images were never downloaded.

The image is an an affile alignment of L4, L5, L6 filters to compensate for cloud motion and a white balance on the clouds and dark sky.

A good argument for a "real" color camera on Mars.

In regards to clouds and weather observation, I found this site with nice current weather observations and movies on a globale scale from MARCI (MRO instrument).
Quite hazy athmosphere currently.
But again: false colors (as stated on this site)...why always false colors? Is nobody interested in true color views of Mars? Evil or Very Mad
