Begins with a page on all the planets (and Pluto) including a 'color patch' compiled over decades of attention to the topic. there are several pages dedicated to the colors of Mars as seen from the surface. Particular attention was paid to using images of the sundial/color chips balanced to resemble the originals. The strips of Martian surface in the backgrounds of these images were then matched to similarly exposed and color balanced Pancam color mosaics showing the wider scene and sky.

Enjoy!

Great site, and pages. I imagine the process of electronic terrain tapestry is far more efficient than the model making. All very impressive. I am as yet looking your pages for the first time, in partial number.
Even in the Phoenix imaging, the colors are covering a full spectrum, but are severely masked by the 'accurate' balance to a heavy tendency for some chemistry and conditions, and phases of chemistry, to deny other coloration. It will not be a problem with a simple solution even over time. We will prefer the non-balanced coloration as a source of information, as we do in most all test instruments, when looking for specific details, then attempt to review the scenes in a 'human' perception of color balance for our 'natural' eyesight balanced viewing.
I am hoping the very detailed mapping of the geology of Mars, and other bodies will be a priority in the space business before I pass on. You certainly have an accomplishment in your site, and a evidenced long campaign of accomplishment in your other related work seen in the many models and artworks.
I'll be missing the Burn again this year(6 days/week all year), but perhaps next year. Smile If space could be accomplished with the efforts of a social group similarly, we could make art of science and the human impulse would drive the work to the stars.

"Together our field of view is greater."

Guys,

I think the Titan images were a little slack.

I think it is a beautiful planet, yes I said planet. I know by definition it is a satellite.
