Hey, y'all ever tried this? Using Google Earth, find a familiar spot. Zoom to a level of your choosing. Use the tilt feature to put the horizon about one third down from the top. Give the mouse a little drag one way or the other. You can orbit the earth! Zooming to a level of your choice on somewhere you are familiar with gives a good idea of context and size. The stars even move! Choose your own orbital inclination! Choose your altitude! Choose your viewing angle! Beware, doing this can waste a LOT of your time. Armchair astronauts read BOOKS. Internet astronauts fly with Google Earth. Zooming in CLOSE, and tilting, I have flown through the grand canyon. I also have done a little "Cessna" flight over my own county and beyond.
