John;

Looks like a better visual match than Tektites!

Here's an old image from sol 1197 that I reprocessed just now. Its been cropped and white balanced in Gimp. The image represents some rocks crushed by Curi wheels and showing a somewhat strange interior.

Note the filaments and a prominent vein in the central fragments.

Here's a sol 1727 3D-X-eyed image that highlights the rough surfaces of the delicate lamellae of the eroded rocks.

View at 200% in Stereophotomaker. Looks like remnants of biology might be around here to me.

Here's a colourful outcrop from sol 1728.

Could the darkish mauve surface colouration at right, top of image be desert varnish?

Winston,
Very nice pictures. I notice on your 3D, a slightly different distribution of sand/dust in the individual images.

sol 1752 some more disturbed soil.

Has there been any characterization of the subsoil chemical structure so far? There are numerous sporadic images but why is there such a distinct difference between the surface and sub surface of the ripples?

Sorry for taking so long to respond to your reply 209.

I looked but couldn't find any suitable ones of mine so here's one of Duck bay, Victoria from the Oppy portfolio that I just cobbled together. Hope that is what you wanted.
