I just got Horton's 3 CDs with his Mars rover images. My DVD player can play them through the TV. So it was lay back, have a beer or two and enjoy the show!

The CDs had about 600 images from Opportunity and 400 from Spirit, some great earth bound nature photos and the stphmkre stereo maker program. That's a lot of pictures and it took me 2 hours to play the slide show on the DVD player.

Most people on this forum have probably seen Horton's great work at one point or another. I personally wasn't able to consistently follow the forum during the summer and early fall, so I was amazed at some of the images I hadn't seen before, including quite a few colour pictures. My favourites were the stereo microscope imager photos, particularly the ones of Pot of Gold. Horton was also able to generate colour MI images, which I didn't think was possible. There are lots of stereo (plus or minus colour) photos and of this batch, my faves were those of the hedges, mud cracks and all those odd shaped rocks at the foot of West Spur. There are quite a few cool panoramas that I think are exclusive to Horton, especially the ones near West Spur. The panoramas are the one thing I wish there was a lot more of.

All in all a pretty cool collection.

Way to go Horton!

I feel the same way about horts cds, you expressed it ever so much better. You should hear/see his fractual (sp) music.

If there is anyone else interested in the CDs, you may request a set by sending an address to: hortonheardawho@lipfordm.com

If you find the CDs have some value to you, you can send a donation to the home for the aged, but not dead yet, pachyderms of Nool.

(As Bob Newhart used to say "that, that would be me" )

Forgot to mention that I can create a DVD if anyone wants the images in that format.

Well, that went well.

Er, for all those of you who didn't want my first 3 CDs, I thought you would not like to know that there is now a 4th CD of images in the HortonHeardAWho on Mars collection.

The new images were created between the release of the last three CDs and ...3,2,1 --- now. The new CD has 240 new images in 620 MB. I will probably add a few more to fill the CD before I finalize the CD.

Yawn.

Just think, you're missing the original TIF version of such images as this awe inspiring image from Mars...

Hortons now 5 CD's are a real treasure-trove full of sparkling gems.
I was awarded a set in the x-mas-quiz for helping out finding the location of a MI in a larger pan.
I've seen many of the pictures before here at the forum, but with a low bandwidth for most parts only the thumbnails.
As the pictures come without following text it can be quite brain-exercising to try and remember the locations - especially the MI's. The panoramas are absolutely stunning, Horticolor rules !
Thank you Horton - You've provided me lots of entertainment for the long dark winternights still to come. Very Happy

Happy New Year, Horton!

I love your colour and panorama photos of the heat shield. Do you have enough photos to fill a data DVD? Please let us know when you get to 4.6 Gb of photos and I'll re-order again.

I also have one other question: I don't know if it's me or what, but I can't save any TIF images. I can view them ok, but I can never find a "save as" or "save target as" function when I right click on the photo. So what's up with the TIFs?

Thanks,
Aldo.

Er, happy 4th day of the year 2005 to you too, Aldo.

I am getting close to a full 6th CD of images.

I decided to fill the requests for CDs and DVDs I received today with the current HHAHOM directory, and not confuse the issue with a new partial directory/CD.

Depending on what the rovers do, I should have another full CD in a few weeks.

What software are you using to view the TIF images that will not let you save them in TIF format?

Sorry guys, I've got to shut down the web site for a few hours while I burn some DVDs for the "paying" customers.

I be right back.

Well, there you go. I didn't even know I needed a special program for TIFs. I just opened it with Explorer. The "save as" option is grayed out. It's perspective photos in the link below that I was trying to save.

What's this --- I don't believe the ones I received have any music.

I haven't watched them enough yet to write a comprehensive review, but my initial reaction is...

AWESOME

It's a lot of fun to sit back and watch all the images fly by --- there are so many that I had forgotten about.

I've particularly enjoyed volume 4 --- "New Oppy Images" --- there seems to be a great deal of big majestic views on this one.

There are 6 disks in all now --- I recommend for everyone here to check them out.

er, sorry.

The fractal music CDs ( there are 5 ) are something I only ship if someone asks for them.

Actually, it's a specialty item with no interest to anyone in the known universe. I should also probably not mention that I don't send the fractal Mpeg movies either.

Oh.

Here's as sample.

Depending on your sound card and speakers this will sound OK -- or terrible. The CD's were created using SB AWE 32 card with a sound font that I like.

Here are a few of my favorites from disk 4 of Horton's collection.

Horton have you considered taking all of the very best images from your collection and compiling them all on one disk?

Six 700 meg disks of Mars images is quite a bit to plow through. Shocked
