Nice LxR image. I tried to get the x-eyed to work using L234567 and R234567 individually and then merge the finals in each...looked like a mushy apple pie finish. So I stuck with L2345 to make a colored image.

I did see some 'white' patches as I progressed, they are the 'yellow' in the R side image.

Please go to Oppy Sol 2510, using images starting from across the top at 4, then 5,6,7.
How do you make a merged colored image of these 4 pics. Is it possible?

Thanks for your help.

er, dx, the Opportunity sol 2510 pancam images are all down-sampled ( 1/2 size ) L1 filter images which are part of a 360 degree panorama of the crater Santa Maria.

The M1,M2,M3,M4 image image suffix are repeats of the same image. The later repeats are more complete than the earlier versions. Notice that one image in the middle repeats from M1 to MK ( 20 times ) before it completed.

Try sols 2512,2513,2514 for L257 images of the crater.

Thanks for that tip. Yes I did notice the M1, M2, M3, M4 designations within the code.

That's a large panorama you created...thanks for that too.

I'll look into the Sol's you mentioned.

In the Oppy Sol 2368 images there are some that are 100x100 8-bit pics...what can be done with these?

Thanks.

This Oppy Sol 2368 image had a 100x100 8-bit image along with 2 other RGB's. I ignored the little 8-bit and worked with stacks and merge on the L57 and with a few advanced highlights came up with this image. Do you the same thing with the 8-bit image?

This is strange and the first time I have noticed that the R image is on the left and the L image is on the right in this x-eyed merge....unless my eyes have done a 180...I have no explanation. The LxR image was completely mixed up for my viewing pleasure, so I switched the 2 and Voila!!! Has this happened to you over the years? Shocked

er, dx, in the side-by-side crossed-eye 3D format the left image is the right eye image and the right image is the left eye image.

The side-by-side 3D with left eye on the left and right eye on the right is the format used by Stereo Viewers like the Viewmaster and the earlier Stereoscope viewer.

Some people can fuse the side-by-side "parallel eyed" images without a viewer - but I can't - so I create the crossed-eye formats.

StereoPhoto Maker has about a zillion 3D format options under the menu "Stereo".

You can open any 3D format file supported by StereoPhoto Maker and view it any way you want.

One of these days I will buy a 3D TV and figure out how to create a "real" 3D Mars DVD.

Now for something completely different...

This animation was the result of the first test of an imagej plugin UnwarpJ. I was resigned to have to write something like this myself and decided to check out the existing plugins to see if one already existed.

Hey, the bear she'sa do the Tango!

er, dx, where did you find 100x100 sol 2368 images? Not here - so where?

Here are my sol 2368 images.

Hm. I'm wondering if one bought the active glasses for a 3D TV whether they could be used with a gif animation at the precise frame rate to see a 3D image?

But maybe the synchronization might not be precise enough. Perhaps the TV uses some active feedback method to do synchronization.

dx, WHERE are you finding these 100x100 files??? How can I comment without an actual file location?

1P3384013ESFAQ5CP253R21-THM is NOT a valid MER file name! In particular, the spacecraft clock ( char 3-11 ) is 2 digits short.

Sigh.

Thanks for your 159. I did see the differences in the Mer file name, no problem there and Oppy did take the pics, I was wondering what use you put them to. I changed them to RGB...etc...and even though they were larger images, they were completely blurred out and unworkable.

On another note, I want to mention that I had tried some macro image making and I am not enamored with using 'macros' in particular. I prefer the 'manual' method of gathering the images and merging them very simply [maybe I'm not used to them]. You are much more advanced and skilled in imageJ production than I am and I really want to be tutored step by step in the way you produced the image in your 76. Did you use a macro for that fine result? Trust this will not take up too much of your time.
