Opportunity MI superdeep rat hole 3d WOW sol 178

check out these cross view microscopic images from opportunity on sol 178. i had to do all the little pieces, with moving the camera and all stitching wouldn't work here. the hole looks amazing here. that cliff like rim at the edge of the picts is the rim of the hole opportunity drilled, only a couple mm deep, looks like a 1 inch cliff. i love zooming in on the freshly exposed surface, in focus, super textured. Truly amazing. now if only making it in color was easy..

I found the setup i want for 3-d images, the geowall. it's basically a computer with 2 projectors hooked up to it, put a polarizing filter on each lens (not crappy red/blue) and have a fully 3-d computer desktop on any surface you can project too. nice landscape shots would look real.

that's a 12 foot or so full color 3-d computer screen behind them... sweet. imagine 3-d quake on that

Nice microscopic imager 3Ds. It's very cool to be able to wander around some of these micro landscapes as if you were a couple of mm tall. If you get time you should check out some of horton's rat threads, take a look at some of the many 3D images he and others have posted. I know you'll be more than impressed.

The geo wall set up is very interesting, I wouldn't mind giving a presentation using this technology myself.
