Hi there

Does anyone know if there's an "expanded" index of the JPL site's Raw Images for Spirit? That is, one that's availible to the general public?

I've noticed a "discrepancy". Surprised According to [Link] there are a total of 67 Soirit pancam images on file for sol 130.

However there are at least 68 such images, as
[http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all/2/p/130/2P137912072ESF5000P2575L2M1.JPG]

exists in their file for sol 130, but is NOT recorded in the index.

Check it out : the thumbnail index is at [Link]
and the text version at
[link]

This may or may not be a big deal... to me, it is important because I want to be able to look back at images from specific sols with confidence that ALL raw images (the ones that have been downloaded, at least) are indeed availible. In the sense that they can be navigated to, from the index. And since there is at least ONE non-navigatable image there are probably MANY more!

Martin,

That image you claim isn't in the index *is*! It's the 3rd sub-frame image for that sol.

I have been studying the rover images for nearly four years now and have noted that some of the original images have been replaced by what appear to be some sort of habitat or craft on the surface of the planet. These are prominent in the Spirit rear hazcam section and can also be found in the Opportunity section. Of primary concern are the images from SOL 325-350, Opportunity panoramic camera which clearly show large chunks of debris and small balls of what appears to be reformed metal after having been vaporized. This seems almost certain to have been caused by hostile activity by some "thing" and my attempts to reach NASA have proven futile. Any comments or observations? Coronal anomalies have been ruled out as have any problems with the rover cameras.

It would be helpful if you could link the the images you neab.

I can't speak for Spirit, but in the period yu specify Opportunity spent a lot of time imaging it's heat shield and a nickel-iron meteorite.

You can find out about this in the 2005 daily summaries for sol sols 325-350

And these images have always been there, they have not "replaced" anything.

The images were not there in 2006 and the summaries are incorrect. Nice try though. You might also want to work on your spelling and try to finish High School. Laughing
