3D view of "skull":

It might be fun to work out a functional description of this creature - based on Earth biology.

I'll start:

The skull is 15 cm with binocular eyes 5 cm apart. The cranial capacity is approximately 1400 cc.

There appears to be no external covering for a large tympanic structure located behind the eyes. There appears to be a narrow pointed small mouth, so this creature most likely is a carnivore. There appear to be several pits above the mouth that may be infrared sensors...

I realy like the eye sockets, maybe some "berries" popped out of it? Very Happy
Somebody should build replicas of all the strange rocks encountered by MER's and open a museum of Mars Rover curios i would say Laughing

The coronal ridge shows ample structure to support the musculature of antennae, although none are visible in this view. The nose area is broad and blunted as you would expect to see in a cold and windy landscape. Is he decapitated or is he buried up to his neck?

alien, although the skull resembles the sjit of the largest bull on the planet WjatTjeJell of system Beta Pictorus, I think that it is unreasonable to conjecture a Martian species would exactly match that of a planet 64 light years distant.

Hi Hort,

Not a rag I would read a bit too Right Wing although very serious as a Daily, extremely respected... the fact is they are reading our Blog taking our jokes trying to make themselves a bit of News ha ha ha. The Red Tops normally soft porn, sport and B52 Bomber seen on moon stuff did the same quite surprising all round. So Hort and Exuinox well done in Print in London.

So it's good Night from all of us here and now the weather............

I am so honored to be excerpted without credit by the telegraph. Of course that being my first post to this blog, I'm afraid the fame of my wit will be all down hill from here.

Bob, such things are a matter of belief or not (as of yet). Though its not a joke, somebody have to go there and proofe this is something sensational - the rovers are just not build and have no "spare time" for discoveries and analysis of alien biology.
btw: my image above is no joke either - just plain HiRISE jp2 zoom Very Happy

Hello...Not a skull..or a rock...But something that is made......Look closely...

It's not just he "skull"....Note "B"...
This is not a rock either....Seems mechanical...

The "skull" it self seems to be mechanical in nature...there ae supports underneath and towards the back. There sems to be two parts of this "skull"...An outer mask covering an inner facial design...
